SOCIAL STUDIES SCRIBE POST (WED.)
Today in social studies we learned about the Caspian Sea,the Persian Gulf and also a little bit about Iran. First is the Caspian Sea is not really a sea at all it is a lake. It’s not really a lake because it’s not connected to a larger body of water. Did you know that it is the largest lake in the world. Then their’s the Persian Gulf. Their are are two reasons why the surrounding countries want to own it. One because it has so much oil under it. Also because the countries want to be able to control the oil flow in and out carried by big oil tankers. We also read 3 paragraphs about Iran. Did you know that their type of government is an Islamic Republic.

Rachel,
Good review. Just to clear up one point, I did not say the surrounding countries “want” to own it. I said that if any country took control of the Persian Gulf and cut off the oil shipments from the middle east it could result in severe damage to the world economy.
