Social Studies scribe post (friday)

Today we looked at a poem about Turkey called I AM LISTENING TO ISTANBUL by Orhan Veli Kanik. Then we took turns reading the poem. Then our class read the first and last lines of the poem and Mr.Hetherington read the rest of it. Next we discussed the poem we talked about what we see or think then we took 2 minutes to circle some of the differences of Istanbul. For example serene and cool in stanza 3 and hammers bang and clang in stanza 3.

    Rachel,
    This post is begging for a hyperlink! Go into Google and find a copy of the poem on line. Also see if you can find a link to the author using Wikipedia or some other source. You could even include a small picture. Remember, no dead documents!  Also spellcheck and add more specific information on some of the contrasting language in the poem. Quote some of the contrasting phrases in the poem. This was a good summary. Make some changes and make it great! :)
